Learning process

This link shows great detail to the way the memory works. It quite useful in explaining the connections between the long term memory and short term memory. The chart include for student attention in the classroom shows how to reach students and apply the knoweldge of attention span covered this week.

This link has information that directly shows the that memory is a dual structure connected by both sides of the brain.  Adding something to long term memory takes external stimuli and also repetition to add it to short term memory.
Memory although linked together needs something external to connect it and keep it there. These connections are important and becoming more and more important for students.

This weeks discussions during class has discussed attention and the limited ablity of it. This link discusses has everyone only has a limited amount of attention.

Sites that work.

BethWillis Miller's blog is based on different ideas for the classroom. Her current blog in on multisensory learning. This is something I am working on in my own classroom. It is very helpful and resourceful in the sense of the use I will have in it.  I have a child that fits under the autism spectrum.  Multisensory I believe could help her learn more effectively.

Element K is a blog that has great information on blended learning. The ideas on technology and the effectiveness are quite useful and will be useful as a class we move forward with instructional design.

Although we focused on different terms of learning, I believe that modalities are important. Many schools focus on the labels of learning and not how the learning is achieved. As a teacher its important to understand how a child learns as well as I learn.  This blog is quite true as they discuss how there isn't a mold that fits everyone. That is certainly true.
I find that many times we try to squeeze into a mold and its putting a round peg into a square whole, its might fit, but there is always wiggle room.
